Makoto Shishio, Kenshin’s crazed successor and now enemy, is about to overthrow the new government of Japan! Can Kenshin stop him without breaking his vow to kill no more?
Kenshin Himura (Takeru Satoh) is a legendary swordsman in the wars accompanying the turbulent fall of Japan’s Shogunate in the 19th century. Once feared as ‘Battosai the Killer’, with the arrival of the ‘new age’ in Japanese history he became a wanderer, roaming the land seeking to be of service to those in need. Arriving in Tokyo, he vanquished Kanryu Takeda, a tycoon trying to finance weapons purchases with opium sales in a bid to rule the world, and his bodyguard Jin’e Udo. Since then Kenshin has been living peacefully with his companions Kaoru Kamiya (Emi Takei), Sanosuke Sagara (Munetaka Aoki), Megumi Takani (Yu Aoi), and Yahiko Myojin (Kaito Oyagi). But now he is summoned by Home Minister Toshimichi Okubo (Kazufumi Miyazawa), and learns that Makoto Shishio (Tatsuya Fujiwara), his successor in the service of the new government during the battle to overthrow the Shogun, is both alive and plotting in Kyoto. Betrayed by the new government, who set what they thought was his dead body on fire, Shishio is now swathed in bandages and with a private army of bloodthirsty mercenaries is planning a coup d’etat. ‘You are the only one who can stop Shishio,’ Okubo tells Kenshin. Shishio, Kenshin’s equal in fighting skill and quick thinking, is a crazed and fearsome enemy.
To save Japan from destruction, what painful decision must Kenshin make? A unique world created on a scale never before seen in a Japanese movie!
