It’s fair to say there’s a lot of excitement surrounding The LEGO NINJAGO Movie – the latest release from the team behind The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Movie.

In cinemas now, the story follows a group of heroic martial artists based in NINJAGO City. Blending CGI 3D animation with elements from the real word gives this film a look of its own, while retaining that brilliant LEGO movie humour we’ve all come to love.

The LEGO NINJAGO Movie marks LEGO’s third big screen outing in as many years, with the promise of action-packed fight sequences and bold visual effects preparing us for a fantastic adventure. The cast includes the legendary Jackie Chan as Master Wu, Dave Franco as the hero of the movie, Lloyd. CHiPS star Michael Peña voices Kai, superhero movie stalwart Olivia Munn voices Koko, while Abbi Jacobson takes on the role of Nya, Fred Armisen Kumail Nanjiani Zach Woods make up the rest of the ninja crew, Cole, Jay and Zane and finally, Justin Theroux rounds things off nicely as the evil Lord Garmadon.

Featuring ninjas, robots and dragons, the franchise is already a popular TV series and the feature film looks set to bring this miniature LEGO world to life on the big screen.

6. Heroes you’re going to love

Anyone unfamiliar with the LEGO NINJAGO world can look forward to meeting some eclectic characters never seen on the big screen before. ‘Green Ninja’ Lloyd works alongside a crack team of master builders to defeat the evil Garmadon – aka the Worst Guy Ever, who also happens to be Lloyd’s dad.

The sprawling metropolis of NINJAGO City showcases some of the most complex LEGO sets ever produced, seamlessly blending both modern and traditional Japanese architecture. LEGO designers worked hand in hand with the film crew to ensure that the blockbuster matched the NINJAGO aesthetic, with intricate details including sewer outlets, fold out solar panels, a traditional fish market and a stunning moving stream.
