Epic Christmas parties start with the guest list, and this year we’re pulling out all the stops with our favourite on-screen characters in attendance. It’s the ultimate Christmas wish list, complete with legendary adventurers, superheroes and friends that know how to have a good time.So without further ado, if we had to drum up our ultimate Christmas party guest list, here’s who’d make the cut...
Jay Gatsby – The Great Gatsby
If a party occurs without Jay Gatsby in attendance, there’s a good chance the party didn’t happen at all. In The Great Gatsby, Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio) is the ‘it’ boy of the roaring twenties; stylish, and wealthy, but hopelessly in love with the sweet – and married – Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan). He’s made our guestlist for his extravagence and commitment to a good party, plus we’re hoping we could borrow his mansion as a venue.
Scott and Kate – The HouseIt’s obvious Scott and Kate (Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler) know a thing or two about entertainment. In The House, they team up with their neighbour Frank (Jason Mantzoukas) to convert his home into a full-blown casino, and everything that comes with it – tables, pool parties and makeshift cage fights, you name it. It’s all in an effort to make enough cash to send their daughter to college, and they’ll know exactly what games to play to get the party going.
Bilbo Baggins – The HobbitIn The Hobbit trilogy, Bilbo (Martin Freeman) goes on the adventure of a lifetime, joining Gandalf the Grey (Ian McKellen) and a pack of dwarves in their quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain, battling evil along the way. He’s a welcome guest at our party because of the incredible tales he can keep the other guests amused with, as well as general updates from the Shire.
Wonder Woman – Wonder WomanAll parties have an element of the unexpected, and in these cases Wonder Woman is the ideal guest to keep things under control. In her first solo film, Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) leaves the mythical island of Themyscira to join the fight in World War One against Ares, the God of War. A certified superhero, if anything were to get out of hand Wonder Woman would be sure to save the day.
Robin – How to Be SingleRobin (Rebel Wilson) is the heart and soul of the party in How to Be Single, a romantic comedy about four sometimes single, sometimes not-so-single friends finding themselves amid break-ups and relationships in the Big Apple. At any event, you could count on her to get people on their feet, dancing the night away or making up hilarious party games.
King Arthur – King Arthur: Legend of the SwordKing Arthur is the guest that brings some mystery, royal heritage and plenty of swagger. In King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Arthur (Charlie Hunnam) pulls the legendary sword Excalibur from stone and discovers that his true destiny is to take back control of the kingdom from his evil uncle Vortigern (Jude Law). We know he can tell a good story, and with tales of mythical creatures and wizardry he’d bring somehting fresh to the table.
Harley Quinn – Suicide SquadEvery party needs a wild card, and with Suicide Squad’s Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), you get just that. After undergoing serious psychological damage at the hands of the Joker, Harley Quinn is taken out of jail to join the Suicide Squad, fighting evil alongside evil. She might be the one smashing your valuables when you’re not looking, but she also brings a sense of spontinaity and fun that’s hard to resist.
