Person of Interest is a crime thriller about a presumed-dead former CIA agent, John Reese, who teams up with mysterious billionaire Harold Finch to prevent violent crimes with high-tech surveillance and their own brand of vigilante justice. Reese's special training in covert operations appeals to Finch, a software genius who invented a program, aka "The Machine," that can identify people soon to be involved in violent crimes.
Tapping into ubiquitous surveillance feeds throughout the city, the two work outside of the law, combining Reese's black ops skills with Finch's technological prowess and unlimited wealth to unravel the mystery of the person of interest, and stop the crime before it happens. Reese's actions draw the attention of the NYPD, including by-the-book homicide detective Joss Carter. After initially pursuing Reese as a criminal, Carter now shares in his pursuit of justice. Also working with Reese and Finch is Detective Lionel Fusco, a onetime corrupt cop who began as Reese's unwilling pawn, but now views their missions as a chance at personal redemption. With infinite crimes to investigate, Reese and Finch find that the right person, with the right information, at the right time, can change everything.
Jim Caviezel (The Thin Red Line), Michael Emerson (Lost) and Taraji P. Henson (Hustle & Flow) team up in this thought-provoking crime action drama from The Dark Knight's Jonathan Nolan and J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Productions (Fringe, Lost, Alias).
Set in New York City, with all of its multifaceted elements of justice (i.e., cops, criminals, corruption), this procedural centres on an ex-CIA agent, presumed dead, who partners with a mysterious billionaire to prevent violent crimes. Using data siphoned off the United States intelligence agencies' threat matrix deemed irrelevant to national security - information concerning not terrorism, but violent crimes of a personal nature - the unpredictable former agent Reese and his enigmatic partner, Finch, identify a "person of interest" and set about solving the mystery of the impending crime that person will be involved in.
Tapping into the world's Big Brother-like surveillance network, the shadowy duo knows that something bad is going to happen; it's their mission to discover what that event will be... and somehow prevent it. Operating on a parallel track are New York detectives Carter and the corrupt Fusco, who must enforce the law while still abiding by it. Running counterpoint to Reese's unconventional yet effective methods, Carter strives not only to collar criminals, but the evasive Reese as well. Inspired by the chilling omnipresence of global surveillance and information tracking, Person of Interest delivers the familiar elements of a crime procedural in a heightened, unpredictable manner - as Reese and Finch race to solve each crime before it occurs.
“I was born under unusual circumstances.” And so begins The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, adapted from the 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backward.
From his birth in New Orleans in 1918, across the high seas, through the bombing of Pearl Harbour, and back home again – Benjamin’s journey is as extraordinary yet as common as any man’s life can be. Directed by David Fincher (Zodiac, Fight Club) and starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett as the time-crossed soul mates Benjamin and Daisy, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a time-traveller’s epic adventure into the joys of life, the sadness of death and a love that endures beyond time.
