This December, the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves will be brought to an unforgettable conclusion in “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies”, part three in Academy Award-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson’s epic trilogy adaptation of The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien.
The Dwarves of Erebor may have taken back the vast wealth of their homeland on Middle Earth, but after inadvertently unleashing the furious Dragon, Smaug (Benedict Cumberbatch) upon the powerless men, women and children of Lake-town, they must now face the consequences.
Meanwhile Thorin (Richard Armitage), the King Under the Mountain, succumbs to dragon-sickness and becomes infatuated with his search for the legendary Arkenstone, at the expense of his honour and friendships. Bilbo (Martin Freeman) desperately tries to make Thorin see reason and is left with no option but to make a dangerous choice, unaware that even greater dangers lie ahead; unseen by all but Gandalf (Ian McKellen), legions of Orcs are encroaching on the Lonely Mountain, sent forth in a stealth attack by the Dark Lord, Sauron.
The new darkness converging on their intensifying conflict forces the Dwarves, Elves and Men to make a decision – unite as one, or be destroyed. Bilbo soon finds himself battling for his life, the lives of his friends and the future of Middle Earth as five great armies descend into war.
“The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies”, the final movie in the Lord of the Rings series, sees Orlando Bloom return to his role as the Elf Legolas, and he is once again joined by Billy Connolly as Dain, Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, and Stephen Fry as the Master of Lake-town.
