4 Iconic Characters to Have Been Brought to Life by LEGO

15 Feb 2017

Few childhoods were complete without the happy yellow faces and clunky bricks of LEGO, and the iconic play sets are bigger than ever thanks to a new lease of life on the big screen. Now some of our most beloved characters have found their way to the world of LEGO, but which are the most definitive stars to ever be made fantastic in plastic?

Robin, Alfred Pennyworth, Batman and Barbara Gordon in The LEGO® Batman Movie.

February 2017 marks the launch of a brand new LEGO adventure! Batman is back following his awesome debut in The LEGO Movie, and this time he’s taking centre stage. Lovingly animated by the same team behind The LEGO Movie, Batman’s star turn sees the return of Will Arnett’s dulcet tones delivering epic one liners that will have all ages in fits of laughter.

As LEGO Gotham City faces its biggest threat yet from a certain green-haired maniacal clown (voiced by Zach Galifianakis), LEGO Batman has to learn to put his lone wolf ways aside as he teams up with Robin (Michael Cera), Alfred (Ralph Fiennes) and more to save the day.

Scooby Doo (LEGO Scooby Doo: Haunted Hollywood)

Scooby-Doo and Shaggy Rogers in LEGO® Scooby-Doo!: Haunted Hollywood.

One of the most famous cartoons with a nose for mystery and a bottomless appetite to match, it’s got to be Scooby Doo! He and the rest of the Mystery Machine gang team up in LEGO Scooby Doo: Haunted Hollywood to take a tour of a dilapidated Hollywood studio, yet as is often the way, not everything is as it seems. The sudden appearance of the Headless Horseman (with a LEGO pumpkin for a head, of course) puts the shakes on Shaggy and Scooby just like in the iconic cartoons we all know and love. Combining the classic antics of the old school series with CGI sheen and slapstick japes, LEGO Scooby Doo proves that you really can teach an old dog new tricks.

Superman (The LEGO Movie)

We all know and love The LEGO Movie for making stars out of hapless Emmet, slick Wyldstyle and plenty more besides, but the movie took the opportunity to introduce a cameo or two as well. LEGO Batman’s role in the film gave him the chance to make his own big screen debut after all, but let’s not forget some of the other household names to make an appearance.

Seeing Superman immortalised as a LEGO minifigure was an absolute joy. He’s the true originator of every superhero we know and love today, and helps to further cement The LEGO Movie as one of the modern classics of family cinema.

The Joker (LEGO Justice League: Gotham City Breakout, The LEGO Batman Movie)

The Joker - LEGO DC

We’re all keen to see what The LEGO Joker gets up to in The LEGO Batman Movie, but it’s not the first time he’s caused chaos in gloomy Gotham City. In LEGO Justice League: Gotham City Breakout, an exhausted Batman takes a vacation, confident he can leave his beloved city in the hands of his superhero friends Superman, Wonder Woman and the rest of the Justice League.
