"DREAMCATCHER" GOES INTO PRODUCTION
FOR CASTLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT

"Dreamcatcher," based on Stephen King's best-selling novel, began principal photography with Lawrence Kasdan at the helm on January 13, 2003, it was announced by Martin Shafer, Chairman and CEO of Castle Rock Entertainment, and Liz Glotzer, President of Castle Rock Pictures. The film stars Morgan Freeman and Tom Sizemore as military officers, Thomas Jane, Jason Lee, Damian Lewis and Timothy Olyphant as lifelong friends and Donnie Wahlberg as a mysterious figure at the center of their circle.

It tells the story of four young friends who perform a heroic act - and are changed forever by the uncanny powers they gain in return. Years later, on a hunting trip in the Maine woods, they are overtaken by a blizzard, a vicious storm in which something much more ominous moves... Challenged to stop an alien force, the friends must first prevent the slaughter of innocent civilians by a military vigilante, then overcome a threat to the bond between them. In the end, they confront an unparalleled horror, with the fate of the world in the balance.

"Dreamcatcher" was adapted for the screen by William Goldman, who received Academy Awards® for both "Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid" and "All The President's Men", and Lawrence Kasdan, who wrote, or co-wrote, four of the most successful films in motion picture history: "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "The Empire Strikes Back," "Return of the Jedi" and "The Bodyguard."

The exceptional technical team includes cinematographer John Seale ("Harry Potter" & "The Perfect Storm"), who won an Academy Award® for "The English Patient," and production designer Jon Hutman ("What Women Want" & "The Horse Whisperer"), who won an Emmy Award for "The West Wing."

"Dreamcatcher" is produced by Kasdan and Charles Okun, accompanied by Casey Grant as line producer. Bruce Berman is the executive producer. Jon Hutman and Steve Dunn are the co-producers and Mark Kasdan is the associate producer. "Dreamcatcher" is an SSDD Films production for Castle Rock Entertainment in association with Village Roadshow Pictures and NPV Entertainment.
